The German School Corporation was founded in 1968, because of the efforts of a group of German and Colombian parents, headed by Mr. Horst Müller. Genuine interest in strengthening cultural and educational processes, and solidarity - a principle inherited from the vision of Dita zur Nieden de Echavarría - have been the basis of our organization’s work. With more than 200 employees, today we are a Corporation that lives interculturality as a context for professional development at the Deutsche Schule Medellín, as an educational institution, and the Auditorium Maximum, as an events center.

At the head of a group of corporate members and the biannual election of its Board of Directors, corporate governance is nourished by collaborative work with the different academic and administrative bodies that make up the corporation. As a non-profit organization, we focus all our efforts on the attention, diffusion and promotion of the teaching of the German language and the German and Colombian cultures, within the framework of democratic values, being essentially apolitical and non-denominational.
In recent years, our strategic focus has been on sustainability, which allowed us to establish a planning as an organization and a school development plan, which strengthens and facilitates the definition and development of long-term actions; directs possible changes in structure, processes and organizational culture, for the implementation of the institutional strategy, and promotes the development of leadership, necessary to advance the processes of improvement and renewal.
With this purpose, in a first cycle, from 2016 to 2019, working groups were created in four pillars: Management and Organizational Change, Human Talent, Administrative Restructuring and Academic Articulation. The synergy that has been achieved between those responsible for each project and their link to the Board of Directors and the mission objectives of the Corporation, show significant progress and learning.
Due to our academic essence, the gearing between the value proposal and the business activity is decisive in achieving the objective of sustainability. From this point, quality in education and principles such as autonomy, critical capacity, responsibility, discipline, analysis and order are elements that allow us to advance in this direction, together with an administrative management that structures, dynamizes and provides the necessary support to fully comply with our mission.
With more than 50 years of existence, our purpose is to advance permanently to continue providing a service of quality and excellence, which contributes to society through education and culture.
